Location: “Prënzebierg”, rue Jacques Chauvin in Pétange

In memory of: Lieutenant Jacques Chauvin

Inauguration: 1940

On May 10, 1940, when a French squadron under the command of Jacques Chauvin moved into Luxembourg and pushed from the “Prënzebierg” towards the railroad bridge at “Bomécht”, they were spotted by the Germans who pursued them and started firing in the direction of the forest. A lot of French soldiers were killed at this spot. Among them was Jacques Chauvin.

In his honor, the Pétange boy scouts erected a memorial right where his body was found. Later on, a copy of this memorial was put up at the edge of the forest and the adjoining street named after the French Lieutenant.
