(4) THE MONUMENT HONORING forcibly enlisted LUXEMBOURGERS
Location: next to City Hall, Pétange
In memory of: forcibly enlisted Luxembourgers
Inauguration: May 10, 1965
Artist: Steel mill Dommeldange
In the presence of Grand Duke Jean, the monument was inaugurated May 10, 1965. This commemorative plaque was designed and made at the steel mill in Dommeldange and is located next to City Hall.
In the course of the renewal of the square around City Hall, the plaque stands at the entrance to the adjacent park.
Some victims of the forced enlistment were not very pleased with this transfer. In 2005, the City Hall extension was built and the monument moved a second time to its present location, a beautiful and dignified place to remember the victims.
